This course is designed to introduce and shape mathematical skills and techniques to solve challenging problems which require a decision on the solution strategy.
Students will recognise when mathematics can be used to analyse and solve a problem in context and understand the relationship between problems and mathematical models that may be applied to solve them. Students will draw diagrams and sketch graphs to help explore mathematical situations and interpret solutions.
Students will make deductions, and inferences, draw conclusions using mathematical reasoning and communicate their interpretation effectively in the context of the problem. Learners will read and comprehend articles concerning applications of mathematics and communicate their understanding taking increasing responsibility for their learning and the evaluation of their mathematical development.
